Alternative Care is a community-based service and we provide a scope of relevant and enjoyable activities for adults with learning disabilities to help them achieve social inclusion. We support our service users to access any and all available services to them and can tailor activities, where possible, to suit the service users’ ever changing needs.
As part of Day Care, we provide access to our Resource Centres where arts and crafts, music, dancing, rhythmic exercises, cooking and baking occurs everyday. You can also use this space to relax, watch TV and enjoy a hot drink or meal. We have wheelchair access to the centres and our kitchens and bathrooms are suitably altered.
Twice a week service users have access to our drama group which is held at the local church hall where they run activities throughout the morning and afternoon with lunch in between. They have the opportunity to participate in stimulating games and activities where they will be moving their bodies and using their minds. Everyone who attends this group will be given the chance to perform in our annual production. We also have an allotment at Sugar Lane Allotments and service users can volunteer to help here, projects are seasonal!
